Aromatherapy Massage

Massage and aromatherapy are a magical combination.

Aroma: noun - a strong pleasant smell
Therapy: noun - a treatment which helps someone feel better, grow stronger

Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils to promote physical and psychological well-being. Essential oils are the highly concentrated, fragrant pure essences extracted from a single botanical source of plants, flowers, trees, berries, bark, grasses, roots, herbs or seeds. Each oil has its own unique character, aroma and therapeutic property, and as it is extremely potent, a little goes a very long way.

When applied using massage techniques, the essential oils are easily absorbed, not only through the skin, (note: essential oils must be added to a carrier oil before putting them directly on the skin) but are also inhaled through the nose. The aroma triggers an area of the brain called the limbic system, which controls a variety of functions including emotions, behaviour and long term memory. Once absorbed into the blood steam, the minute molecules of essential oils not only help to stimulate the immune system, but may also affect heart rate, stress levels, blood pressure, breathing and digestion. Some essential oils increase circulation, others help to promote cell growth and encourage the body’s own healing systems.

Pure essential oils are specifically blended to address the needs of each individual to gain maximum benefits. The resulting blend, when added to a carrier oil, is then applied directly to the skin in a gentle, relaxing body massage.
